Promoting Kindness in School: How MGIS Cultivates Positive Character
6, January 2025
At MGIS, we believe that kindness is the foundation of a thriving school community. Our diverse and inclusive environment fosters respect, empathy, and understanding. Cultivating positive character is at the heart of everything we do.
As a candidate school for the IB Primary Years Programme (PYP), we focus not only on academic excellence but also on developing well-rounded individuals. The IB PYP emphasizes the development of the whole child, and kindness is a key attribute of the IB Learner Profile. Our students embody qualities like “Caring” and “Open-mindedness” which help them build meaningful relationships and contribute positively to their communities.
We also host school-wide initiatives, events, and activities that promote positive behavior. For instance, Kindness Weeks, International Day, the “Show & Tell Your Country’s Culture” initiative, acts of kindness in class, and maintaining a healthy environment through activities where students assist in cleaning the playground.
These activities showcase their understanding of kindness in action, not only towards others but also towards our planet. By participating in these events, students gain a deeper understanding of how they can make a positive difference in their school and beyond. We believe that by instilling positive character traits early on, we’re setting the stage for a brighter future for everyone.
